President’s Club and Beaumont Tower Society Membership Changes FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the Changes to Membership of Lifetime Societies

In an effort to provide donors more meaningful annual recognition for their support of Michigan State University, we have created new annual giving recognition levels. In addition to recognizing gifts made annually, these new recognition levels provide us with a way to honor donors who make leadership level annual gifts. As part of these changes, we will no longer admit new members into two of our Lifetime Giving Societies - President’s Club (PC) and Beaumont Tower Society (BTS) at the end of this calendar year (2015). After receiving feedback from Development Officers about the importance of continuing to honor lifetime recognition at the John Hannah Society level and above, we will continue to accept new members into those societies.

What is the timing of retiring new member admittance into President’s Club and Beaumont Tower Society?
Both PC and BTS will no longer admit new members after December 31, 2015. We will continue to honor the generosity of all current members, as well as those donors who make gifts or pledges that qualify them for PC or BTS between now and December 31, 2015.

What impact will these changes have on my membership to President’s Club or Beaumont Tower Society?
These changes will not impact a donor’s current status in either PC or BTS; we are simply not allowing any new members into either of these exclusive donor societies. They’ll still receive the same level of recognition, engagement and commitment from Michigan State University those donors have always received for their generous support.

How do these changes affect my invites to special events?
Michigan State will continue to use a donor’s giving history – both lifetime donor society membership and recent annual gifts – as one of our many criteria for creating invite lists for special events.

How do these changes affect my priority for athletic tickets to postseason games?
Spartan Fund will continue to use a donor’s giving history – both lifetime donor society membership and annual gifts to Spartan Fund – to determine who has priority for ticket purchases for postseason games.

Who should donors contact if they have additional questions about these changes?
