Why Apply to Become a CAL Alumni Board Member?
The College of Arts & Letters Alumni Association Board of Directors enhances support and promotion of the college, as well as faculty, current and future students, and friends. The CAL Alumni Board provides advisory leadership on behalf of CAL alumni. As a group, the CAL Alumni Board convenes a minimum of three times per year to discuss alumni activities, CAL Alumni Association membership growth, development of initiatives and funding support for student groups, scholarships and programs, as well as sponsorship of important academic programs, workshops and guest speakers that will enhance the CAL student experience.
Board member terms last three years, with option to renew. Throughout the year, members also work on one or more of the following committees: Executive, Finance, Awards, Events and Membership.
Members have the opportunity to hear from various important campus officials, recieve College updates from the dean, faculty, and students, and engage with countless alumni. They serve as representatives of the MSU Alumni Association and the College of Arts & Letters at both University and College level events. Members are also responsible for selecting scholarship and award recipients, planning events regionally and in East Lansing to engage other alumni and support current students, and serve as ambassadors in promotion of the College.
