Douglas A. Noverr has been named Interim Chair of the Department of Romance and Classical Studies, effective May 16, 2015.

doug.jpg“After a short retirement I’m pleased to be appointed interim chairperson of the Department of Romance and Classical Studies and to have the opportunity to become reacquainted with faculty I worked with before and to work with new faculty. I enjoy being part of the academic enterprise and having the school year as my calendar,” said Noverr.

Noverr is a professor emeritus in the department of Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures and the American Studies graduate program at Michigan State University. His research and publications span the fields of sports history and culture, film history, popular culture, and American literature. He is the author of volume III of Michigan State University's Sesquicentennial Histories: Michigan State University: The Rise of a Research University and the New Millennium, 1970–2005 and the coeditor of The Complete Journalism of Walt Whitman, volumes I and II. He lives in East Lansing, Michigan.
