College Welcomes Five New Staff Members

The College of Arts & Letters would like to welcome five new staff members to the College. The new staff members include:

  • Carly Kabel, Secretary III, Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian, and African Languages 
  • Noushin Mahmood, Secretary II, Department of Art, Art History, and Design
  • Monica McCurdy, Office Assistant III
  • Jennifer Mora, Administrative Business Analyst, Center for Language Teaching Advancement (CeLTA)
  • Katlyn Wright, Secretary III, Department of English

Carly Kabel

Carly Kabel, Secretary III, Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian, and African Languages, graduated Cum Laude from Spring Arbor University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Global Studies. She is TEFL certified, which allowed her to teach English abroad from 2015 to 2018. She also participated in the Chinese Language Program at Sichuan University in China from 2017-2018. Kabel has been an English and Writing and Literature teacher at three different schools in China as well as a Substitute Teacher, Paraprofessional, and Student Worker at various schools in Michigan. She has taken mission trips, semesters abroad, and cross-culture studies in Cambodia and China. In China, Kabel also started an English program for university students as well as volunteered at a Chinese orphanage.

Noushin Mahmood

Noushin Mahmood (also known as Sus), Secretary II, Department of Art, Art History, and Design, received her Bachelor of Arts in Media and Information with a concentration in Media Management from Michigan State University in 2018. She completed undergraduate research during a service-learning study abroad trip to Tanzania in 2017. Mahmood has held positions at MSU as a Communications Intern, Student Office Assistant, Research Interviewer, and an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. She has received several honors and awards, among them being the College of Communication Arts and Sciences Academic Scholarship in 2016 as well as the College of Communication Arts and Science Global Study Away Scholarship in 2016 and 2017.

Monica McCurdy

Monica McCurdy, Office Assistant III, The Writing Center, graduated from Michigan State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising Management. She worked as a Student Clerical Assistant for the MSU Controller’s Office from 2016-2017, and a year later, she was the Junior Marketing Associate for B.A.P., Inc. McCurdy currently is a Marketing and Sales Consultant for Village Green and is the owner of and photographer for her company Monica McCurdy Photo.

Jennifer Mora

Jennifer Mora, Administrative Business Analyst, Center for Language Teaching Advancement (CeLTA), previously served as Graduate Medical Education Administrator for the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. From 1996-2004, she worked as the Program Manager/Special Projects Coordinator and the Associate Director for the Michigan Association for Deaf, Hearing and Speech in Lansing. During that time, she secured a $45,000 grant for substance abuse and violence prevention for deaf and hard of hearing youth. Mora also has served as the Operations Manager at Graduate Medical Education, Inc., and the Senior Manager of Finance and Administration at Great Lakes Health Connect, both in East Lansing.

Katlyn Wright

Katlyn Wright, Secretary III, Department of English, has worked in Michigan State University’s Department of Neurology as a Medical Assistant since 2014. Also, in 2014, she was certified by the National Healthcareer Association as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). She has taken related coursework at Lansing Community College.
