ABOUT THE AWARD
Established in 2016, this award recognizes support staff members who have worked for MSU’s College of Arts & Letters for six months to three years and have shown promise early in their CAL careers with a potential for growth and advancement. It honors those staff members who have exhibited exemplary dedication to the mission of the College and Michigan State University while consistently demonstrating outstanding performance in fulfillment of their job responsibilities. The award recipient should be someone who anticipates problems and is solution oriented. Further, this resourceful team player takes initiative and is willing to reach outside of their personal network to achieve their objective.
The award recipient will receive a $500 award and be recognized with a citation and an award plaque.
ELIGIBILITY
The nominee must be a CAL support staff member .
Six months to three years in the College of Arts & Letters
Nominations and letters of support are encouraged from students, staff, and faculty from across campus who have direct knowledge and experience interacting with the nominee.
AWARD CRITERIA
- Excellence in performance of job responsibilities.
- Anticipates problems and takes or recommends preventative actions.
- Takes initiative to network with outside resources.
- Team Player.
- Demonstrated potential for growth and advancement.
NOMINATION PROCESS
Complete the NOMINATION FORM. Along with the nomination form, please upload the nomination letter and up to 3 letters of support – 2 pages or less. Group letters are welcomed. For assistance or questions regarding the form or process, please contact Melissa Staub.
SELECTION PROCESS
The nominee must meet the eligibility requirements. Each nomination will be rated by a committee of five using a rubric based on the award criteria. Nomination and supporting letters will have names, titles, and departments redacted to avoid unintended bias or preferential scoring. Distinctive achievement in each category of the award will constitute the strongest case for selection. The committee will be cognizant, however, of particularly outstanding achievement in any one area. The finalist will be submitted to the Dean of the College of Arts & Letters for final approval.
