Your Future: Your Destination

For some, a college major sounds synonymous to a particular career path. Saying you are a mechanical engineering major for example, can be interpreted as, "I want to be a mechanical engineer." Students in the arts and humanities, however, have a far broader path available to them.

Maybe that's why you're drawn to the arts and humanities--so you can explore off the beaten track. Do you have a specific destination in mind? Or are you interested in taking a look at the landscape first?

Wherever you are on the path, the CAL Field Career Consultant can help you identify options, assess individual values and goals, polish your resume, research employers and graduate schools of interest, develop a plan for your job and internship search, and more. Participate in workshops offered through the Arts & Letters career workshop series (MySpartanCareer for details and to RSVP) and/or schedule a career advising appointment any time you need a hand along the way!

Graduates of the college go on to follow a wide range of career opportunities, some focused on a direct application of the discipline they studied. Others allow for the indirect application of these interwoven with other skills and interests.

Integrating experiences inside and outside the classroom helps prepare students to leverage their degree after graduation. Students can engage in these co-curricular experiences through part-time jobs, internships, volunteering, student organization leadership, and/or undergraduate research.

See a small sample of job titles, employers, and educational institutions where our alumni have landed, including the first destinations of our spring 2006 and 2007 graduates.

We're proud that our alumni have gone on to be film producers, directors and screenwriters; published novelists and children's writers; painters, sculptors, photographers and graphic designers; doctors, counselors, and therapists; government officials (elected, appointed and civil service), lawyers and judges. Alumni work in small and large businesses, museums, nonprofit agencies, K-12 schools, colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and around the world.
